Sophie & Robbie
Kasteel Engelenburg Wedding
This was the first time photographing a Kasteel Engelenburg Wedding. I’ve worked with many Dutch couples before in Spain, and for some reason, they’ve been my favorite weddings. The Dutch are always so friendly! Sophie & Robbie were no exception!
On Friday evening they invited their friends & family for a sunset cocktail on the terrace. Afterward, they had a rehearsal dinner at Kasteel Engelenburg. A dinner that included many beautiful speeches and some tears. I recently photographed a wedding in Marrakech for one of Sophie's friends. So, it was so nice to see many familiar faces at the wedding.
On Saturday the bridal preparations took place at the Engelenburg Castle. Sophie was wearing a beautiful dress by Christos Costarellos. The groom, a suit from Thom Sweeney.
Robbie and the rest of the bridal party were later waiting in the hallway for Sophie to walk down the stairs. This is the Dutch first look tradition, and it was a beautiful moment to witness. As you can see the stairs were amazingly decorated with lots of flowers by AP Bloem. When the group photos finished, we all boarded an old Vintage bus that took us to the church “Hallse Kerk”. What a beautiful church for the wedding ceremony!
After the ceremony, we headed to the gardens of Kasteel Engelenburg for some portraits. Meanwhile, the guests were enjoying their cocktails. Later in the evening, the guests arrived in black tie but with a carnivalesque twist. They were asked to wear a spectacular headpiece during the party.
Thanks again for inviting me to this wonderful wedding in the Netherlands!
